Sangre, Sudor y Lágrimas
Sangre, Sudor y Lágrimas is a mixed media collage that was created as a tribute to a past friendship. This piece is structured through the enmeshment of tender moments which make up the story of past remembrances. In an attempt to repair and inspect wounds forged upon betrayal, the artist gathered pieces of artifacts from locations once filled up by the presence of the companions to highlight the details of their time together and the cycling of memory.
“I placed myself into this piece. I needed to immerse myself into this art piece that I have given everything to. I placed my blood, sweat and tears on the material already swollen from its violent birth. With my blood, I seep my physicality into this art piece wearing the mask of the performance of our time. The blood pulls me closer to my creation. The body has always coincided with the corporeal, yet it is not simply detached from spirituality. Body and mind work together. With my sweat, I add in the heat of what once was. Sweat that was born from the warmth of sexuality, from the touches of wanting that grazed us. With my tears, I plant my sorrow among yours. Sorrow rests on the precipice of this creation, its weight shifts back and forth. Can you feel it too?”
